Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE)
OET Bulletins
Because of increased regulations and scrutiny by the FCC and OSHA, wireless operators are taking a more rigid and proactive approach to insure compliance with the new MPE (Maximum Permissible Exposure) laws. These laws, mandated by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), require strict compliance by wireless operators on both a state and federal level. Additionally, new regulations dictate extensive training be provided to employees whose work exposes them to Radio frequencies. Because of the pressure in meeting the September 1, 2000 deadline for all FCC regulated transmitters complying with the new MPE limits for individuals, TCS Consultants, Inc., has created software and resources to address these issues. Through either statistical modeling and / or field measurements, TCS can determine what needs must be addressed for each of your transmitter sites.

What is MPE?:
MPE - Maximum Permissible Exposure to Radio frequency energy. Please review the following two documents for detailed explanations.

"Evaluating Compliance with FCC Guidelines for Human Exposure to Radio frequency Electromagnetic Fields"

OET Bulletin 56 - Fourth Edition (August 1999),

TCS Consultants, Inc., provides a variety of services relating to the testing, evaluating, and calculating the effects of Radio frequencies on the human body. These services should be done once you have clearly defined the following - or - are prepared for TCS Consultants, Inc., to define them for you;

TCS Consultants, Inc., has created custom designed software to calculate the MPE limits of radio sites from 1 KHz - to - 100,000 GHz. There are numerous factors which are typically not taken into account when performing these studies to which TCS Consultants, Inc., pays close attention. These factors can, and probably will, dramatically reduce the actual MPE your radio site exposes to both the public and your employees. TCS Consultants, Inc., provides online-software for evaluating "simple" studies which do not include a lot of these variables. The purpose of the software is to evaluate approximate MPE of individual sites for pre-determination of RF levels. For more stringent and accurate determinations, please do not hesitate to contact us.
